Earlier this month, FANUC America headquarters hosted students from Novi
High School, in Novi, MI, for Oakland County’s 10th anniversary of
Manufacturing Day. Inside FANUC’s manufacturing floor and robotics
classroom, students were treated to a tour and hands-on experience.
This year is the 10th anniversary of Oakland County’s Manufacturing Day,
where more than 1,000 students from 28 high schools visited 34 local
manufacturing facilities. Oakland County’s Manufacturing Day coincides with
National Manufacturing Day.
“Over and over, we see the impact that hands-on robotics experience can
offer today’s students, leading to rewarding careers in exciting fields that
they may have never been exposed to otherwise,” said Paul Aiello, head of
education at FANUC America. "We're thrilled to deliver on our commitment to
education and support efforts like Oakland County’s Manufacturing Day in
creating more opportunities to transform the world through automation.”
As manufacturers seek to fill four million high-skill, high-tech and
high-paying jobs over the next decade, Manufacturing Day can offer a
life-changing opportunity to students. A study by FANUC America shows that
40 percent of students discover their interest in automation careers while
still in high school, making this early exposure crucial in shaping their
career paths and fostering a long-term interest in the field.
Besides welcoming students inside our facilities, FANUC America recently
announced a $1M
automation scholarship in partnership with SME Education
Foundation to help fuel the growth of the robotics field even further.
Student applications will be accepted beginning November 1.
