Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV) and Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR) provide an autonomous method to bring automation where you need it, when you need it. Pairing a robotic arm with a mobile platform - either on an AGV or AMR - allows for additional capability without human intervention. Industrial mobile robots are useful in mobile machine tending (MMT), order fulfillment, pick assistance, automated storage and retrieval (ASRS), warehousing, and much more. Mobility can be achieved in a variety of methods. These can include mounting the robot to a mobile cart such as an Autonomous Mobile Robot or a portable base with fork pockets. A variety of pre-engineered solutions are available for quick-deploy robotic machine tending applications.
Additionally, in an application called “Goods to Robot,” ideal for pick-and-place warehouse applications, autonomous mobile roots move to and from a robotic arm, allowing consistent, efficient and fast-paced retrieval and placement of products.
